How to clean and care for your eye massager
A few minutes of care keeps an eye massager feeling fresh, hygienic, and pleasant against your skin. Because these devices sit right on the delicate eye area, a little routine cleaning goes a long way. Here's a calm, no-fuss guide to keeping yours in good shape — whichever OptiEase device you own. (This is general product-care guidance; always follow the instructions included with your specific device.)
The golden rules
Before we get into specifics, a few principles apply to almost every eye-care device:
- Wipe, don't soak. A soft, dry or slightly damp cloth is all most surfaces need. Never submerge an electronic massager in water.
- Power off and unplug first. Always clean a device when it's switched off and disconnected from charging.
- Be gentle on skin-contact surfaces. Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol, or abrasive pads on foams and fabrics unless your device's included instructions say it's safe.
- Let it dry fully before storing or charging — more on that below.
Heated, fabric-lined massagers
This covers most of the range — the OptiEase™ Core, ReliefPro, 6D Relax, and MusicHeat. The inner lining that touches your face collects a little skin oil and makeup over time. Wipe the contact surface with a soft cloth, lightly dampened with water if needed, and let it air-dry. For the outer shell and strap, a dry cloth is usually enough. Keep moisture away from any buttons, ports, or speaker openings. If your model's lining is removable or the manual mentions a specific cleaning method, follow that.
Rollers and wands
The EyeLift and EyeLift Pro have a smooth massage head that glides over the under-eye area. Wipe the head clean with a soft cloth after each use so it stays smooth and hygienic. If your roller has a cooling metal tip, a dry or barely-damp wipe keeps it bright — dry it right away rather than leaving moisture on the surface.
Red-light and LED devices
The Radiance Eye Spa visor and 3D RedLight have LED surfaces that rest close to the skin. Keep these especially clean and smudge-free: a soft, dry cloth (the kind you'd use on eyeglasses) is ideal for the light-emitting surfaces. Avoid liquids and sprays directly on the LEDs, and never scrub them. Clear, clean surfaces simply feel and look their best.
Gel and cooling wraps
The Cooling Comfort Cap is different from the electronics — it's a gel wrap you chill in the freezer. Wipe the outer fabric or surface clean with a damp cloth and let it dry before returning it to the freezer. Because it's designed for the cold, the freezer is its home; the powered devices in your collection are not freezer-safe, so keep those at room temperature.
EMS and gel-pad devices
The Eye Rejuvenator uses contact pads that touch the skin. Keep these clean and free of residue exactly as the included instructions describe, since gel-pad and contact-pad care can vary by model. When in doubt, defer to your device's manual rather than improvising.
Before you charge
This one matters: make sure a device is completely dry before you plug it in. If you've wiped down a contact surface, give it time to air-dry fully first. Charging while damp isn't good for any electronic, so build a short pause into your routine — wipe, let it rest, then charge.
Storing it well
Keep your device somewhere dry, cool, and out of direct sunlight when it's not in use. Many OptiEase devices come with a pouch or box that's perfect for this. Storing it clean and dry, away from heat, helps the materials and battery stay in good condition between sessions.
When to retire it
Even well-loved devices don't last forever, and it's worth being honest about that. If the lining tears, the surface cracks, the battery no longer holds a charge, or anything looks damaged, it's time to stop using it and consider a replacement. A device that's past its best simply won't feel as good — and if you ever notice a charging or heat issue, discontinue use and reach out rather than pushing it.
